Miami’s spring practice is set to begin in late March due to the Canes’ deep run to the national championship game in January.
As we prepare for the 2026 season, head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff will begin molding the 2026 team, reestablishing the culture and evaluating the talent of this roster. After 15 spring practices, we will have a better idea of our team going into summer workouts and fall camp.
In this series, CaneReports will breakdown each position group and identify potential battles on the depth chart. At this time, we will introduce players in each group alphabetically. Let them compete for a place on the depth chart.
For now.
Today, we examine the CORNER positions.
Returning: (6) Ja'Boree Antoine, Damari Brown, Chris Ewald Jr., OJ Frederique Jr., Xavier Lucas, Ethan O'Connor,
Transfers: (0) no transfers
True Freshmen: (4) Camdin Portis, Jaelen Waters, Brody Jennings, Jontavius Wyman
Position Battle:
Miami returns a solid three-man rotation that includes OJ Frederique Jr., Xavier Lucas, and Ethan O'Connor. The battle will be for the fourth rotation position between Damari Brown, Ja'Boree Antoine, Chris Ewald Jr. and the four true freshmen (see above.) Brown could also be fighting for a nickel and safety role.
Bottom Line:
Miami goes into spring practice with both talent and experience at corner. bring lots of game experience from last season’s CFP run. The position battle to watch will be for the final rotation spot.
GO CANES!
