Miami’s spring practice is set to begin today, March 24th, due to the Canes’ deep run to the national championship game in January.
As we prepare for the 2026 season, head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff will begin to mold the 2026 team, reestablishing the culture and evaluating the talent of this roster. After 15 spring practices, we will have a better idea of our team going into forward into summer workouts and fall camp.
In this series, CaneReports will breakdown each position group and identify potential battles on the depth chart. At this time, we will introduce players in each group alphabetically. Let them compete for a place on the depth chart.
Today, we examine the INTERIOR OFFENSIVE LINE positions.
(Listed Alphabetical)
Returning: (5) Seuseu Alofaituli, Max Buchanan, Juan Minaya, Samson Okunlola, Ryan Rodriguez,
Transfers: (1) Jamal Meriweather
True Freshmen: (4) Joel Ervin, Canon Pickett, Rhys Woodrow, JJ Sparks
NOTE: Players may slide outside to tackle if needed
Position Battle(s):
Miami enters spring practice with two established interior linemen in Samson Okunlola, and Ryan Rodriguez, with one experienced transfer in Jamal Meriweather. The Canes welcome true freshmen Joel Ervin, Canon Pickett, Rhys Woodrow, JJ Sparks.
BOTTOM LINE:
Miami goes into spring practice with good talent and experience but perhaps light depth. The youth are very promising but need college game experience. The position battles will be fierce and interesting to watch.
Who will step up and spring forward?
GO CANES!
