theKEYS to the GAME: Central Michigan

September 26, 2026 - Our #6 Miami Hurricanes (3-0, 2-0 ACC) will host the Central Michigan Chippewas (2-1, 0-0 MAC) on Saturday evening at Hard Rock Stadium.
Last week, the Canes defeated Wake Forest on the road, 33-20, in a game mired with injuries to a number of Cane players, including running back CharMar Brown and wide receiver Joshua Moore for the season.
Here are our three KEYS to the Game against the Chippewas.
KEY: STOP the RUN…
Central Michigan runs a power spread offense, averaging 14.7 points per game (132nd) and 265.3 yards of offense per game, The offense is run-heavy, led by quarterback Angel Flores with rushing 312 yards (5.2 YPC). Miami’s front-seven on defense must control the line of scrimmage and force the Chippewas to the passing game, a major weakness. Flores has attempted only 26 passes in three games for 103 yards (53.8%) 0 TDS and 2 interceptions.
KEY: Kick Start the Running Game…
Miami needs to reestablish a running game this week. That will be a challenge, considering the rash of injuries (Brown and Fletcher) to the Canes’ depth at the position.
KEY: REST the STARTERS…
Miami is banged up with injuries across the board. As quickly as possible, get the reserves as many game snaps as possible. It will allow the Canes to get healthier and it will be beneficial for the younger players' development.
BOTTOM LINE:
Miami should handle Central Michigan. This game may be the last chance to get significant snaps for our reserves.
GO CANES!
