No. 1 Miami travels to South Bend on Saturday to take on No. 4 Notre Dame in a classic showdown of two top powers in college football.

As is our tradition, we attempt to identify the Keys to a Miami victory.

POUND THE ROCK:

Notre Dame has an excellent defense. However, they must play without three starters on defense, included their captain, MLB Drayk Bowen, DT Francis Brewu (questionable), S Brauntae Johnson and

CB DJ McKinney.

Attack the middle (spine) of the Irish defense. Make them stop Miami’ power running game of Mark Fletcher, Javian Mallory and Jordan Lyle.

SPREAD THE WEALTH:

Notre Dame is also banged up in their secondary without two starters. Miami must balance the passing distribution to Cooper Barkate, Vandrevius Jacobs, Daylyn Upshaw and Elija Lofton. Lofton must become more of a middle seam threat with the Irish’s loss of the middle linebacker and captain Drayk Bowen. Jacobs must stretch the field vertically with his speed. The Toney injury may be a blessing in disguise, resulting in ultra balanced Miami attack.

CONTAIN CJ CARR:

Miami’s defensive front seven must be dominate in this game. Notre Dame’s offense is balanced and led by talented and experienced QB CJ Carr. Take away the running game, minimize Carr’s impact and Miami has a very good chance to win this game.

BOTTOM LINE:

Miami has a very good chance of winning this game, but the adjustments made this week on Green Tree must be successful.

GO CANES!
