In 2025, the Power Four Conferences (Big 12, ACC, SEC, Big Ten) created the College Sports Commission (CSC) as part of the House v. NCAA settlement to monitor third-party NIL contracts and oversee the NCAA's revenue-sharing model.

At the time, an NIL spending cap (approximately $20.5M per school) was implemented. However, two of the four conferences (SEC and Big Ten) have largely ignored the cap and now spend as much as $40m a year.

What happened to that cap?

When will the CSC crackdown on offending schools?

What will be the penalties?

Let us suggest the following penalties.

a. Schools spending more than 20.5M a year on NIL revenue sharing would be fined an amount equal to the overage.

b. Schools spending more than 20.5M a year on NIL revenue sharing would beineligible from participating in the CFP or bowls for two years.

BOTTOM LINE:

It’s time to take back control of college football. We need a level playing field for all schools.

GO CANES!
