What IF… breakaway? - part three

For years, there have been questions and rumors about the future viability of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
The ACC has been battling both a financial revenue gap and internal conflicts for years.
What are the options? After dissolving the ACC conference, we formed a new 12-school conference. We decided to DRAFT the schools invited.
Our GOAL:
A very powerful conference in both football and basketball that brings competitive success, financial stability to member schools and the game back to our fans.
In part one of our series, we examined a very real option for the many of the ACC schools. Break away and form a new conference made up of only twelve schools. It would take a majority of the current eighteen ACC schools to dissolve the conference.
Along with a friend (a Noles fans!), we are conducting a fantasy selection process for a new conference.
Twelve schools.
So far, we have selected Florida State, Miami, Clemson, Notre Dame, North Carolina and Duke. You could say these picks established our football and basketball flagships.
Our METHODOLOGY:
We are alternating picks, something like a draft. Our only restrictions are our picks must be realistic and located in the eastern half of the United States.
NEXT UP: AZ Nole picks school #7
With the seventh selection, AZ Nole selects Georgia Tech.
“The Yellow Jackets bring one of the oldest and most a storied athletic programs in the country, winning seven national championships since 1916. The also sit in Atlanta, Georgia, the eight largest TV market (2.8M) in the United States. Their football has been on an upward trajectory (9-3 in 2025) since the hiring of head coach Brent Key.”
TexCane is up next.
With the eighth pick, TexCane selects Virginia Tech.
“The Hokies bring the storied and strong athletic program. The fan base is large and passionate. Lane Stadium is always sold out and electric in the fall. Recent, Tech hired one of the top head coaches in the nation, James Franklin, to return Tech to the elite level. Early recruiting results is it was a good hire. look for the Hokies to return to the upper echelon of college football.”

With the selection of Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech, our conference has now established a strong presence in top centers (Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Indianapolis.Research Triangle) These eight schools bring recognizable football and basketball brands and will draw big national audiences every week of the season.
It keeps getting better, but harder! Stay tuned.
