Miami’s four-game winning streak was broken with a 6-3 loss to Virginia Tech on Sunday. The Canes won the first two games of the weekend series.
While Miami (24-8, 6-6 ACC) collected 11 hits against the Hokies, they went 5 for 20 with runners on base and left eight stranded. Daniel Cuvet, Max Galvin and Fabio Peralta each drove in a run.
On the mound, AJ Ciscar (2-3) went six innings, giving up four runs (3 earned) on six hits, striking out eight Hokies in a losing effort. He retired the last 11 batters in faced.
The Canes threatened in the eight inning when they put two runners on base but couldn’t deliver a run.
Miami will next host Florida International on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. ET, with coverage on ACCNX and WVUM.
