With spring football camp and the baseball season well underway, life at the U, is never boring. The athletic department always has a thousand balls (Loi) in the air. Running a college athletic department always has moving parts constantly flowing. There is never enough time or resources to cover them all. We’re going to try anyway.

Below are just a few happenings recently occurring around the U. We hope they give you information about University of Miami athletics that you might not otherwise be exposed to.

Perfect Game Mid-Season All-America:

Four Miami Hurricanes garnered honors including Daniel Cuvet earning Second Team Midseason All-America honors and Derek Williams earning Third Team honors as an outfielder. Also, Alonzo Alvarez and Dylan Dubovik were both named Freshman First Team All-Americans

2026 Women’s College All-Star Game:

Miami women’s basketball graduate student Ra Shaya Kyle has been invited and is set to compete in the 2026 Women’s College All-Star Game ion Aril 4th in Phoenix, AZ.

Basketball Roster Building:

The 2026 College Basketball Transfer Portal is about to open. Miami must replace three seniors; point guard Tre Donaldson, forward Malik Reneau, and center Ernest Udeh Jr. In addition, SG Noam Dovrat and SG Tru Washington have indicated they will enter the portal. That’s five players Miami must replace on the roster. The Canes have landed the verbal commitment of high school five-star power forward Caleb Gaskins. Who will fill the remaining four slots? High School? Transfer Portal?

Watch List - Baseball America’s Mid-Season Freshman of the Year

Miami freshman Dylan Dubovik has been named to Baseball America’s Midseason Freshman of the Year Watch List. Baseball America’s midseason watch lists are based primarily on in-season production, along with prospect status, feedback from professional evaluators and level of competition. Four finalists for each award will be announced May 27.

Congratulations to our Canes!

GO CANES!
