Miami head coach Mario Cristobal appeared on his weekly in-season segment on The Joe Rose Show on 560 WQAM. on Monday.

He shared his thoughts on last weekend’s game and the state of the program going into the last two weeks of the regular season.

On Miami's performance against NC State…

"We just played better," said head coach Mario Cristobal. "The energy and the enthusiasm and the work ethic from Monday through Saturday over the last couple weeks is paying off with improvement in so many areas. We expect the appetite and energy to be even stronger today, so let's get to work."

On Carson Beck…

"He did a really good job all game and the couple times he got out of the pocket and had to make things happen with his feet, he moved the sticks once and he got close to a first down on another one. He is in a great mindset right now.”

On Malachi Toney…

"He does a lot because he can handle a lot and because he works at it. He wants more and more and more and he makes things happen. His QBR fell after he missed that one touchdown pass and I am sure he worked at it until midnight last night. He is that type of guy. We are going to keep finding ways to make sure he changes the game.”

On Girard Pringle contribution…

"It is a product of what you put on the field when you get your opportunity. He deserved to go in first from what he did the previous week and what he showed in practice."

On Jakobe Thomas’ play making and physicality…

"It was a big play and he put an exclamation point with the way he finished in the end-zone…I don't know if you had a chance to see that, but it is definitely worth your time.”

On finishing the season strong…

“We are on the verge of playing our best football. We have to go and take care of our business and everything will take care of itself.”

GO CANES!
