For decades, the NCAA has struggled to keep the association viable and alive. After years of contemplation...
I HAVE A PLAN to fix it
My plan may not be perfect, but it will begin to fix the problems facing the NCAA. I’m not professing to get rid of the NCAA. Just restructure and streamline it.
To fix the problems of the NCAA, we must be clear on its priority goals.
Today, we set our vision of success, our strategic goals.
REGAIN the confidence of our customer base, our fans.
Establish confidence metrics for our customer base (fans).
CHANGE our management culture.
Establish a business culture within management.
RESTRUCTURE our management model.
Move to a corporate leadership model, away from an academic leadership model.
REDESIGN our product line for our fans.
Our eighty schools are our products. How we bundle them is critical.
TAKE BACK control of our business.
Apply common sense. Eliminate controversy. Get control!
BOTTOM LINE:
It won’t be easy. There will be barriers from the special interests that currently control the marketplace. But with strong, bold and decisive leadership, college athletics can once again be an inspiring part of our American culture.
In part three of our series, we begin to restructure the NCAA, starting with a new organizational/management model.
Until then…
GO CANES!
