Four Canes named All American!

CBS Sports released their Mid-Season All-American Team on Monday.


Miami had four players named to the first team, including QB Carson Beck, OT Francis Mauigoa, OC James Brockermeyer and DE Rueben Bain.


Carson Beck has led Miami’s offense, throwing for 1,213 yards, a 73.4% completion rate, with 11 touchdown passes, one touchdown run and only three interceptions.


Francis Mauigoa has been one of the best offensive linemen in the country. Pro Football Focus credits Mauigoa with an 82.6 pass blocking grade and an 81.5 run blocking grade. He has allowed only five quarterback pressures and two sacks on the season.


James Brockermeyer, a transfer from TCU, has been the anchor for the Canes offensive line, considered one of the best in the country so far this season. PFF credits Brockermeyer with a 76.1 pass blocking grade and a 67.1 run blocking grade.


Rueben Bain has been one of the most feared players in college football this season. He has totaled 29 quarterback pressures in five games this season. PFF has graded Rueben with a 92.5 pass rush grade (3rd best in CFB), a 92.1 run defense grade (tied for 5th best in the nation regardless of position and second-best defensive lineman in the country. He leads the team with 26 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss and has two sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble. Rueben has generated Heinemann Trophy buzz over the first half of the season.
