“...in football you keep working”

Miami entered the Stanford game with a game plan that called for the offense to run first, pass to compliment and keep the Cardinal defense honest.
But the best laid plans can go asunder. After Stanford scored quickly on their first series, the natural tendency could have been to turn to the air to get back into the game.
Miami did not hit the panic button.
During his weekly appearance on The Joe Rose Show on WQAM, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal shared his thoughts on staying with the game plan.
“When you commit to the run, you really have to be committed to it and I feel like we did that” said Cristobal.
“It is a four quarter game and the issues that we had in the previous game showed up a little bit in the first quarter with a slow start”… “Then it is like look man, I don't want to see any anxiety or anybody hanging their head. It is football and in football you keep working until you regain the momentum of the game and you fight to keep the momentum. I thought it was good resiliency to hammer away.”
Miami did just that, stuck with the power rushing attack, grinding out 199 rushing yards and scoring 42 unanswered points on the way to a dominating victory. It may not have looked flashy, but it was winning football.
At the end of the day, that’s what counts.
GO CANES!
