KEYS to the Game… Florida

Miami is playing at a very high level right now, still undefeated with a good resume to boot. The Canes are in a position to close out their non-conference schedule in style on Saturday night as they host in-state rival the Florida Gators at Hard Rock Stadium in front of a national audience and packed stadium.
Just about every college football “expect” is predicting a solid win for the Canes over the Gators.
Wait one minute! Pump the brakes!
While the Gators have been struggling, they still have a talented team. They are very dangerous. And Miami has a long history of losing games like this one. So, can the Canes stay focused again against a quality team? We believe they can if they take care of the following keys to the game.
WIN in the trenches…
A critical advantage for Miami this season has been a dominance in the trenches. That must continue this week for the Canes. Miami’s elite offensive line must grind it out against a Gator defensive line that has struggled this season. Miami’s defensive line must keep the pressure on Florida QB DJ Lagway, who has also struggled with his passing accuracy at critical times this season.
Establish the run…
Miami bruising rushing attack has kept opposing defenses off balance, allowing Carson Beck to pick apart the opposition’s passing defenses when they begin to pack the box. Another 200+ yard rushing performance will control the game tempo and clock. However, Florida has a talented fast and physical defense. The Canes must win this key battle between Florida’s outstanding defensive line and Miami’s big, physical offensive line.
Take the Gator’s passing attack away
Florida’s passing game is floundering, with five interceptions in last week’s loss to LSU. If Miami's front seven can keep the pressure on Lagway, it turns Florida’s offense into a single dimensional attack.
BOTTOM LINE:
If Miami wins the battle in the trenches and controls time of possession with a grinding running game, the Canes win this game…again
GO CANES!
