Miami (17-6, 2-4 ACC) crushed Creighton, 11-1, on Saturday night at Mark Light Field to clinch the weekend series.
The Canes used timely hitting and a sterling pitching performance from left-hander Rob Evans (5-1). Evans turned in 6.1 innings, allowing only one run on three hits, while striking out seven Bluejays.
Creighton jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning but Miami quickly answered in bottom of the second as sophomore Fabio Peralta blasted a two-run double to take a 2-1 lead.
The Canes never looked back.
In the third inning, Miami third baseman Daniel Cuvet blasted a 430-foot home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and his 52nd of his career, tying him with Yonder Alonso (2006-08) for the third-most home runs in program history.
Miami broke the game open in the eighth inning with three runs to clinch the series and end the game under the 10-run rule.
The teams return to action on Sunday for the final game. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m ET, at Mark Light Field, with live coverage on ACCNX and WVUM 90.5 FM.
GO CANES!
