Miami four-star cornerback commit Kenton Dopson has officially reclassified from the 2027 recruiting class to 2026 class.

Originally a 2027 commit, Kenton committed to Miami earlier this year in March. At 6’-1”/185, he is considered a blue chip prospect, now rated 93, ranked the #17 cornerback and the #157 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. In 2024, Kenton finished with 16 tackles, 16 PBU and 3 INT.

Kenton is a national prospect with 31 scholarship offers. He chose Miami over such schools as Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, Auburn, Penn State, North Carolina, and South Carolina, among others.

Kenton is a multi-sport athlete (football & track). He registered a 10.9 in the 100 and a 22.77 in the 200.

In August, 247Sports’ director of scouting Andrew Ivins gave this evaluation of Dopson.

“Poised defensive back with natural coverage skills that has spent the past few years battling some of Miami-Dade’s top pass catchers. Looks the part at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds and pairs the larger frame with track speed. Fights to maintain leverage in both press-man and off-man coverage while working from an outside cornerback posting. Has proven to be rather opportunistic and can make quarterbacks pay for bad decisions (opened 2025 campaign up with a pair of interceptions). Might be best suited for a boundary role with his size, but needs to get more consistent in run support and figure out how to defeat blocks. Physical tools suggest that he can be a future multi-year starter at the Power Four level, but must keep evolving as a defender and buy into the process at the college of his choice.”
