Miami runs past Stanford, 42-7

After a slow start, Miami shifted their power running game into high gear and scored forty-two straight points to defeat the Stanford Cardinal, 42-7, in front of 63,892 fans at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday night.
Stanford scored early to take a 7-0 lead. But that was about it for the Cardinal. Miami junior running back Mark Fletcher ran for 104 yards and 3 touchdowns (4.5 YPC). TheQB Carson Beck went 21-28 for 189 yards and a touchdown and no interceptions. WR Malachi Toney caught 5 passes for 52 yards while WR Tony Johnson caught another three passes for 69 yards and returned 2 punts for 73 yards to set up Miami scoring drives.
On defense, Miami gave up only 144 total offensive yards, while the Canes racked up 404 yards of total offense. Miami won the turnover battle with two interceptions (Wesley Bissainthe and Xavier Lucas.) The Canes committed no turnovers. Keionte Scott led all Miami tacklers with 5 tackles.
Miami dominated time of possession, 36:42 to 23:18.
It didn’t look good at first, but Miami quickly took care of business.
Miami (6-1, 2-1 ACC) travels to Dallas to take on SMU (5-3, 3-1 ACC) on Saturday, November 1st. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. ET at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
