UPDATE: 1/13/26 | 12:30 p.m. ET

The 2026 Transfer Portal is open for business. College football players can enter the portal from January 2nd through January 16th.

According to ESPN, more than 4,500 Division I college football players entered the transfer portal on the first day of the open window. Players need not find a new school during this open period but they must declare during this open period if they wish to transfer. They also can return to their previous schools if they choose and the school accepts them back. This will be the only open window for college players in 2026.

The CaneReports will monitor the comings and goings at Miami’s football program. It will be a challenge this year due to Miami’s college football playoff run. The team will be in Phoenix all week preparing for their semi-final game against Ole Miss on January 8th at the Fiesta Bowl.
