Miami’s spring practice is well on the way with practices on Friday and Saturday this weekend.


As we prepare for the 2026 season, head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff have begun to mold the 2026 team, reestablishing the culture and evaluating the talent of this roster. After 15 spring practices, we will have a better idea of our team going into forward into summer workouts and fall camp.


In this series, CaneReports will breakdown each position group and identify potential battles on the depth chart. At this time, we will introduce players in each group alphabetically. Let them compete for a place on the depth chart.


Today, we examine the RUNNING BACK position. (ALPHABETICAL)



Returning: (5) CharMar Brown, Mark Fletcher Jr., Jordan Lyle, Girard Pringle Jr., Chris Wheatley-Humphrey


Transfers: (0) NONE


True Freshmen: (1) Javian Mallory


Position Battle(s):

Miami enters spring practice with two established running backs in Mark Fletcher and CharMar Brown, with Jordan Lyle and Girard Pringle Jr. fighting for greater roles in 2026. Redshirt freshman Chris Wheatley-Humphrey will also seek to established a role in 2026. Finally, the Canes also welcome talented true freshmen Javian Mallory.


BOTTOM LINE:

Miami has an embarrassment of riches at running back. The room could be the deepest and best in the country this season. The position battles will be fierce and interesting to watch.
