Our Miami Hurricanes got back to playing fast and physical on defense and using the power rushing attack to run away from Stanford, 42-7, on Saturday night at Hard Rock Stadium.
Still, the bias AP voters wanted more blood, dropping the Canes into a tie at #10 in the nation.
As is our custom, we award “Games Balls” to the Canes who made significant contributions to victory. This week we present a host of game balls in victory.
Defense:
Except for a brief time in the first quarter, Miami’s defense dominated Stanford, allowing only 144 total yards of offense. including only 55 rushing yards (2.0 YPR), while turning the ball over twice on interceptions. The Canes were swarming all night on defense.
Mark Fletcher:
Running back Mark Fletcher led Miami’s offensive attach, rushing for 106 yards and a career high three touchdowns. Miami got back to flexing it considerable muscle on the offensive line and power rushing attack. Malachi Toney:
Once again had an impressive showing, racking up 138 all-purpose yards, including a season-high 72 punt return yards, 13 rushing yards and 52 receiving yards (for the Canes in a 42-7 win over Stanford on Saturday. It was his third straight game with at least 100 all-purpose yards, posting an offensive grade of 80.2 according to Pro Football Focus.
BOTTOM LINE:
The game wasn’t as close as it appeared, thanks to a lethal defense and forty-two straight points by our Canes..
