Miami’s 2026 recruiting class continues to stand at 22 verbal commitments, ranking #12 in the country and #1 in the ACC.
It’s been awhile since the Canes landed their last commitment. Part of slowing can be attributed to the start of the season. But another reason could be Mario Cristobal and his staff are playing the quiet and patient long game. What buzz we hear is primarily about potential “flip” targets.
Miami still has needs at defensive line, wide receiver, linebacker and defensive back. The CaneReports will periodically report on Miami’s top remaining targets, both flips and non-committed prospects.
Below are Miami’s projected remaining top targets.
Defensive Line:
All reports indicate Miami is still pursuing defensive tackles and edge rushers.
DT James Johnson* (Texas commit)
EDG Anthony "Tank" Jones* (Oregon commit)
DT Alister Vallejo* (Michigan commit)
EDG DeAnthony Lafayette* (LSU commit)
DT Isaiah Broughton* (UNLV commit)
Wide Receiver:
Miami would like to add one more wide receiver, preferably a tall, big body receiver.
WR Calvin Russell* (Syracuse commit)
WR Milan Parris* (Iowa State commit)
Linebacker:
Miami is looking to add one more linebacker to the class.
LB Duyon Forkpa Jr.
Defensive Back:
Miami is still looking to bolster their depth on defensive backend, particularly at safety.
DB Justice Fitzpatrick* (Georgia commit)
S Devin Jackson* (Oregon commit)
S Jacob Curry*
Running Back:
Miami would like to add another running back to pair with commit Javian Mallory.
RB Derrek Cooper* (Texas commit)
RB Jae Lamar* (Georgia commit)
RB/DE Lekhy Thompkins* (Louisville commit)
BOTTOM LINE:
Miami will fill out their 2026 class by playing the long game and circling back to earlier blue chip targets. Look for Miami to add 4-6 additional commitments to their class down the stretch this fall.
GO CANES!
