Since the conception of the College Football Playoff (CFP) the college football world has been full of chaos, confusion and controversy.

The situation has grown so bad that the public no longer believes in the integrity and validity of the playoff selection process.

The solution, however, can be swift and fair.

ELIMINATE THE POLLS AND SELECTION COMMITTEE

The selection committee has been inconsistent in their selection criteria, causing confusion and chaos in the public.

The Associated Press is being called on criminal bias charges by the voters. Extreme violations by voters are surfacing and public trust is all but gone. How does the AP qualify its voters? Does the AP review the voting records of its members? What steps does the AP taking to insure validity of its poll process?

The CFP selection committee has failed to establish consistent parameters in their process. The public has grown confessed and frustrated by the weekly changes in their committee’s parameters. The public now believes there is corruption and manipulation to meet hidden agendas. Public trust is all but gone.

By eliminating both the polls and committee from the selection process, the NCAA and the CFP can reestablish public trust and avoid confusion and chaos. The CFP can create a true national championship tournament with the most worthy teams participating.

HOW?

No more ranking teams based on polls or selected by a “special”committee. To qualify for the national championship tournament a school must win its conference, on the field of play.

Eight FBS conference champions go to the tournament.

PERIOD!

The NCAA would have to trim the FBS to eight conferences, 96 schools, down from the current 133 schools. Eight conferences, each with twelve full time member schools. Each school would play an 11-game conference schedule with one additional crossover conference game.

The independents would have to become members of a conference. Can we say...Notre Dame?

The NCAA would have to lead a reorganization of the conferences to insure the best balance possible. Hopefully, this would include a move back to geographic sanity for the fans.

Conference champions go to the playoffs.

PERIOD!

BOTTOM LINE:

The National Championship is EARNED on the field of play.

PERIOD!

GO CANES!
