The No. 9 Miami Hurricanes host the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday night.
The Canes enter the game (5-0, 1-0 ACC) looking to bounce back after their first loss of the season. The Cardinal (3-4, 2-2 ACC) are looking to keep the momentum going after upsetting FSU last week.
The game will be the first meeting between the schools.
Stanford is averaging 327.7 yards of offense per game (#16 ACC) while holding opponents to 422.0 yards of offense per game (#17 ACC).
Miami is averaging 412.3 yards of offense per game (#6 ACC) while holding opponents to 291.5 yards of offense per game (#2 ACC).
Both teams play very physical. However, the Cardinal will play with some key banged up players, including quarterback, Ben Gulbranson, running back Micah Ford and linebacker Matt Rose.
For Miami to win on Saturday, we feel there are two keys to the game.
Match Physicality and Win the Trench War…
Miami failed to dominate the trenches against Louisville, a major reason Miami won the first five games. The Canes must not let this happen again this week.
Establish the Running Game…
Miami failed to establish their power running game in last weekend’s loss. Run for 200+ yards, control the clock and the outcome of the game.
BOTTOM LINE:
Once again, the battle in the trench will heavily factor in this game. Play fast and physical. Dominate the trenches with a punishing running game and swarming defense.
