Indiana completed a perfect season (16-0) with a 27-21 victory over Miami (13-3) on Monday night at Hard Rock Stadium.

Hoosier quarterback Fernando Mendoza scored the winning score on a spectacular 12-yard diving touchdown. The Canes tried to rally in the closing two minutes only to see their hopes disappear on an Indiana interception in the red zone.

Miami complied 342 yards of total offense to Indiana’s 317 yards. Carson Beck passed for 232 yards on 19/32 (7.3 YPC) with 1 touchdown and one interception. Running back Mark Fletcher rushed for 112 on 17 caries and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Malachi Toney led Miami receivers with 10 catches for 122 yards and one touchdown. Linebacker Mo Toure led Miami’s defense with 11 tackles with defensive end Rueben Bain and linebacker Wesley Bissainthe each contributing eight tackles. Akeem Mesidor led Miami’s pass rush two sacks for the Canes.

The game will go down as one of the classic games between two powerful teams. It’s a shame somebody had to lose.

Miami closes out their outstanding season with 13 victories.
