Three Canes earn ACC Player of the Week

Miami dominated arch-rival Florida State on Saturday night in Tallahassee. As a result, the Atlantic Coast Conference named three Miami players “ACC Player-of-the Week” at their respective positions on Monday.
Miami senior quarterback Carson Beck was named the “Player of the Week” at quarterback. Beck carved up the Seminoles, completing 20-of-27 passes for 241 yards and four touchdown passes in Miami’s 28-22 road win over No. 18 Florida State.He threw two touchdown passes apiece to Malachi Toney and CJ Daniels. Beck finished with a 190.4 passer rating and no turnovers in the top-20 win.
Miami senior offensive center James Brockermeyer was named the “Player of the Week” for offensive linemen. Brockermeyer anchored a strong offensive line that powered Miami to 404 total yards (272 passing, 132 rushing) in a 28-22 win at No. 18 Florida State. He helped protect Carson Beck, who threw for four touchdowns. James helped lead a unit that did not allow a sack in the win and converted 4-of-5 third downs in the game.
Miami senior safety Jakobe Thomas was named the “Player of the Week” at defensive back. Thomas had a monster game with 5 solo tackles, a sack, an interception, a tackle-for loss and two passes defended. Jacob was all over the field on Saturday night.
