Miami struck again Wednesday evening when 2029 quarterback CJ Cypher (Carrollton, GA - Carrollton) gave Miami his verbal commitment.

At 6’-1”/195, CJ is not yet rated or ranked. That will change in the future. He is Miami’s first commitment to the 2029 recruiting class, although there’s some discussion of him reclassifying to the 2028 class.

Among his 32 scholarship offers already, CJ chose Miami over such schools as Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Ohio State, Notre Dame Auburn and Georgia Tech, to name a few.

CJ has plus arm-strength and accuracy to all three levels of the field. Industry experts consider CJ the best quarterback in the 2029 recruiting class.

As a freshman in 2025, CJ passed for 2,178 yards, at a 71.6% completion rate, generating 26 touchdown passes against only 3 interceptions.

BOTTOM LINE:

Miami has taken another step in their commitment to develop quarterbacks at the high school level after landing Dereon Coleman, Luke Nickel, Israel Abrams, Knox Annis and now CJ Cypher over the last few cycles.

Welcome to the U, CJ! Welcome to the family!

GO CANES!
