Miami welcomed four-star safety Cortez Redding (Jonesboro, GA - Jonesboro) on Friday to its 2026 recruiting class.

Among his 48 scholarship offers, Cortez chose Miami over Indiana, NC State and Ole Miss.

At 6’-0”/170, Cortez is the 22nd official verbal commitment to the Canes, He is rated 90, ranked the 26th safety and the #336 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Cortez is Miami’s first safety committed to the 2026 recruiting class, now ranked #10 in the nation and #1 in the ACC.

In 2024, Cortez was a tackling machine, registering 118 tackles, six coming for a loss, with three interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, and ten passes defended.

With the addition of Cortez, the Canes now have 17 blue chip commitments (77.3% ratio).
