Circling Back…?

Miami is off to a strong start on the field this season. This often leads to an uptick on the recruiting trail. Miami’s 2026 recruiting class currently ranks #12 in the nation with 22 verbal commitments.
Mario Cristobal and his staff are looking to round out the class down the stretch, looking for prospects at linebacker, defensive tackle, safety, tight end, offensive line and running back.
If Miami continues to deliver on the field, the staff could circle back to prospects they were after earlier in the cycle but committed to other schools.
Where might Miami look?
Look no farther than Gainesville, Florida. The Gators are having a rough start on the field and it appears head coach Billy Napier might be on the hot seat. Florida has a number of 2026 verbal commitments who Miami pursued earlier. Here are five prospects who may be open to reconsider the Canes.
DT Kendall Guervil
Miami still needs to land another defensive tackle in the 2026 class. At 6’-4.5”/315, Guervil is rated 94, ranked the #15 DL and #120 overall prospect in this cycle. He has been on campus in Coral Gables twice (camp and UOV) in 2024.
LB Malik Morris
Miami would like to add another linebacker prospect in 2026. Morris strongly considered Miami before committing to Florida. At 6’-1”/225, Morris is rated 91, ranked the #14 LB and #252 overall prospect in this cycle. He has visited Coral Gables on four occasions, including an official visit.
TE Heze Kent
Miami was among Kent’s finalists before committing to the Gators. Miami actively recruited him as a tight end but many feel he winds up at OL. He officially visited Coral Gables in June. At 6’-6”/310, Heze is rated 93, ranked the #10 ATH and #180 overall prospect in this cycle.
IOL G'Nivre Carr
Miami pushed to land Carr earlier in the cycle. He officially visited in Coral Gables before he committed to Florida. At 6’-4”/336, Carr is rated 88, ranked the #44 IOL and #557 overall prospect in this cycle.
RB Davian Groce
It’s been reported Miami wants to take two running backs this cycle if the right prospect emerged to pair with xxxx. Groce was offered by Miami but never gained much traction with the Canes. Might he reconsider? At 6’-1”/190, Groce is rated 97, ranked the #4 ATH and #47 overall prospect in this cycle.
BOTTOM LINE:
Would any of these committed prospects considered “flipping” to Miami.
Who knows, including Billy Napier?
GO CANES!
